Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville will host a community meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 7:00 p.m., in Fire Headquarters, 1 Pine Street, Montclair.

Redevelopment in the Lackawanna Plaza Area on Bloomfield Avenue will be a focus of discussion. Joining Councilor Baskerville will be Mayor Robert Jackson, Councilor At-Large Rich McMahon, Township Planner Janice Talley, and Ira Smith from Smith Maran Architects, the township consultant for the project.

In addition, representatives from the Nelson Nygaard, the consulting firm the Township contracted to perform a comprehensive parking study, will be in attendance to provide information to the public about the work they’ll be doing in town for the study.

MPD CSU to Host Two "Coffee with a Cop" Events PDF Print E-mail

The Montclair Police Department Community Service Unit (CSU) has scheduled and additional two “Coffee with a Cop” events for October.

The next "Coffee with a Cop" takes place Friday, October 16, 9:30 a.m. at B London, 307B Orange Road. B London recently opened in Montclair's South End and will offer free iced coffee and mini muffins to attendees.

On Friday, October 23, the CSU will host another "Coffee with a Cop" at 9:30 a.m. at Java Love, 244 Bellevue Avenue.

Ordinance aimed at improving air quality in Essex County open spaces

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Today, Essex County Freeholder Vice President Brendan Gill announced that the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders passed an ordinance he sponsored that would prohibit smoking in Essex County Parks.

“It’s our priority to ensure the children and families utilizing Essex County’s parks have a safe and healthy environment to enjoy, and this resolution takes a significant step in that direction,” said Freeholder Gill. "The dangers that tobacco and second hand smoke pose are well-documented, so we must take every step possible to ensure that Essex County residents have access to the basic right of clean air. I remain committed to working with great organizations like NJGASP to continue creating safe spaces for the people of Essex County to enjoy.”
